Excellent agronomic performance

Successful crop growth begins with a precise seeding operation. Choosing a seeding system that performs consistently in changing conditions helps protect yield potential from the very start. With the right setup, you support uniform crop establishment and reduce avoidable risks throughout the season.

The Dakota row unit

The Dakota row unit uses a patented opposing single‑disc design that is straightforward to operate and maintain. Each opener contains only two bearings, requiring lubrication once a year. With no in‑season maintenance, you can keep working without interruption. The row unit maintains consistent seed depth and spacing, even when soil conditions vary. Its single‑disc opener places seed accurately in cereals and pulses, supporting uniform emergence and strong early crop development. This precision helps the crop access nutrients efficiently and promotes reliable performance across different field environments.

Ideal seedbed

Dakota’s openers move soil efficiently to create a clean, warm seedbed. This produces a darker surface that supports quicker warming and strong seed‑to‑soil contact. The result is uniform early growth and reliable performance, even in high‑residue, heavy, or wetter field conditions.

Fertiliser accuracy

Placing fertiliser correctly in relation to the seed is essential for strong early crop development. Dakota’s mid‑row fertilising system ensures accurate seed‑to‑fertiliser positioning, even in demanding soil conditions. The system applies liquid, dry, or NH₃ fertiliser between the seed trenches formed by the opposing discs, positioning it about 7.6 cm from each row and up to 3.8 cm below the seed. The discs then move soil back over the fertiliser immediately after application, creating a protected and effective nutrient zone.

Easy setting of down pressure

Dakota allows quick adjustment of down pressure through the iCon wireless control system and the in‑cab display. This gives you real‑time responsiveness to changing field conditions and helps secure precise seed‑to‑soil contact. Hydraulic cylinders supply consistent pressure from the toolbar, maintaining the same force throughout the full range of cylinder travel

Easy setting of seed depth

The Dakota makes it straightforward to fine‑tune your seeding setup for accurate seed placement. You can adjust seed depth quickly using the frame stops, without any tools. This helps secure consistent emergence across changing soil conditions.

Wireless blockage monitoring

Wireless blockage monitoring

Now you can watch for blockages from the cab as the blockage system monitors product flow on your Väderstad air seeder system. If a blockage is detected, it immediately delivers quick, accurate notification of the exact location to your iCon wireless control system

Product leaving the manifold bounces off a stainless-steel membrane as it enters the seed or fertiliser run, creating a small sound wave. If there is any change in the sound wave, it is picked up by acoustic sensors that detect the blockage to trigger audio and visual alerts on your tablet.

When a blockage location is identified, you can take your tablet out of the tractor cab and carry it with you as you locate the blockage and fix the issue. No more misses.

Product concept

Zone 1 – Fertiliser placement

Dakota’s mid‑row fertilising system provides accurate seed‑to‑fertiliser positioning, even in challenging soil conditions. It applies liquid, dry, or NH₃ fertiliser between the seed trenches formed by the opposing discs, placing the fertiliser about 7.6 cm from each row and up to 3.8 cm below the seed. This design also moves soil back over the fertiliser immediately after application, protecting the nutrient zone.

Zone 2 – Seeding

The patented opposing discs lift and reposition soil between the rows to create a level, dark seedbed. This supports quicker warming and improves seed‑to‑soil contact, helping the crop establish evenly across the field.

Zone 3 – Reconsolidation

A rear packer tyre closes the furrow effectively and helps retain NH₃, with seed placed on each side of the tyre. The packer tyre also gauges working depth, reducing the risk of sidewall compaction often associated with gauge wheels. This promotes a firm, uniform seedbed for consistent emergence.
