The Wil-Rich compaction study 2025

Zero-till practices have boosted yields and soil health in Western Canada, yet low moisture can lead to compaction. This study investigates variable-depth compaction tillage, guided by prescription mapping, as a targeted solution. Using the Väderstad Wil-Rich 357 Inline Ripper, the project evaluates how precision tillage can minimise compaction and improve return on investment for growers.

How disc type and disc configuration affect straw distribution

Straw distribution plays an important role in tillage performance. Disc type, disc configuration and working speed can all influence how crop residues are redistributed during cultivation. To better understand these effects, Väderstad conducted a field study under practical field conditions in Germany.
