The Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro is engineered to loosen soil, bury heavy debris, and properly size clods for an ideal field finish. It is a heavy-duty machine designed with two rows of discs followed by four ranks of chisel shanks to meet your primary tillage needs, such as cutting, fracturing, and mixing the soil, creating optimal soil conditions for seedbed preparation. The Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro is the ideal tool for today’s high-yielding crops.
Serrated discs and shanks work together to cut heavy residue and thoroughly mix it with the soil to promote fast decomposition.
Compaction negatively affects soil and plant health. Using the right tillage tool can help manage this compaction for better water infiltration and root growth.
Using the Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro after harvest can help fields retain moisture over the winter, while allowing for easier seedbed preparation in the spring.
A post-harvest tillage pass can be critical to achieving a better seedbed in the spring and setting the foundation of operation performance throughout the year. Give your crop the best chance to succeed while reducing risks at the same time.
The Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro manages heavy crop residues by cutting and mixing them for faster decomposition, ensuring better seed emergence. It also breaks up compacted soils, improving pore space for healthier root development. Additionally, the clod sizes created help retain moisture over winter and protect against erosion, making spring seedbed preparation easier.

Heavy crop residues like high-yielding corn can cause emergence problems in the spring through hair-pinning, poor seed placement and other issues. One strategy to deal with residue is to bury it, which helps it decompose. For this to be effective, the residue can first be cut into small pieces, which will break down faster than larger pieces. Then, thoroughly mixing it will create as much soil contact with the residue as possible, so microbes can digest the material most effectively. The Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro excels at both cutting and mixing residues to ensure optimal decomposition and soil health.
A healthy soil has pore space to hold air and water. Compacted soils don’t have this pore space, which can cause problems with water infiltration, root development, and overall plant health. An effective fall tillage pass with the Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro can help break up this compaction and achieve better pore space to help crops thrive.
The clod sizes created by the Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro help to collect and retain moisture over the winter. The finish also offers some protection against wind and water erosion. In the spring, the soil profile is smoother than if a more intensive ripper was used. As a result, seedbed preparation is easier.
The Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro incorporates heavy residue and breaks up compaction while creating a smooth field finish. It accomplishes a wide range of tillage objectives in one pass, making the Chisel Pro an ideal post-harvest tool on the path to creating the ideal seedbed.
The Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro contains two rows of serrated disc blades to cut and size residue into smaller pieces, so it can break down faster. The concave shape of the discs is designed to thoroughly mix the residue with the soil, helping to speed up the decomposition process even more.
The double-mounted discs are 24 inches in diameter with 15-inch spacing. The second rank of blades is offset, resulting in an effective blade spacing of 7.5 in. This configuration provides consistent tillage across the width of the implement.
Behind the serrated disc blades are four ranks of chisel shanks. These help mix and loosen soil while breaking up compaction layers up to 10 in deep. To minimize plugging concerns in heavy residue, the shanks are spaced 60 in apart, providing excellent flow between them. Each of the four ranks is offset for an effective shank spacing of only 15 in. This design results in a more ideal field finish than disc rippers with wider shank spacing.
The Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro delivers exceptional performance by seamlessly integrating the power of a ripper with the expansive reach of a chisel plow. Its ability to operate at depths up to 10 in while requiring less horsepower than conventional disc rippers allow it to cover more land with improved efficiency, thereby boosting productivity on the farm. Operators can adjust the disc depth independently of the shanks to accommodate different field conditions and personal preferences.
The Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro can be equipped with a coil tine harrow with or without rolling baskets. These attachments help break down dirt clods and prepare fields for winter, ensuring they are ready for the next planting season.
This finishing option includes a 3-bar coil tine harrow and hydraulically adjustable rolling baskets. The combination of a harrow and rolling basket is ideal for distributing residue, breaking up clods, and creating a level field finish. The angle of the harrows can be adjusted according to conditions. Operators can also adjust the basket down pressure from the cab to achieve the desired field finish. The baskets can be completely lifted off the ground in wet conditions or when not needed.
The 3- or 4-bar tubular harrow features five adjustments for tooth angle. These adjustments allow the user to set the harrow's aggressiveness according to ground conditions and the amount of residue on the soil surface. The tines measure 5/8 in in diameter, are 26 inches long, with a spacing of 12 inches between each tine.

Wil-Rich shanks are engineered for maximum strength and durability to minimize downtime with an industry-leading trip pressure of 1,400 lbs. The high trip pressure helps maintain depth in tough soil conditions, while preventing damage from rocks or other obstructions.
Working at depths up to 10 in, the Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro requires less horsepower than a disc ripper, allowing for wider working widths and to complete tillage jobs in fewer passes and in less time.
A floating hitch on the Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro pivots freely where it attaches to the implement. This hitch style provides exceptional depth control and ground following.
The 22.5-inch walking tandems provide excellent flotation and safe transport.
Concave discs for the Wil-Rich 483 Chisel Pro were meticulously designed to mix heavy residue and soil ahead of the shanks. They have serrated edges to provide better residue cutting performance than other blade types. Disc depth can be adjusted independently of the tines.
Four ranks of heavy-duty shanks are engineered to mix in residue, loosen soil, and shatter compaction up to 10 in deep. The 1,400-pound trips provide exceptional strength. Single-point depth control allows quick, easy adjustments in the field.
Optional leveling attachments of a three-bar harrow, four-bar harrow, or three-bar harrow with hydraulic
rolling basket with adjustable down pressure create a level soil profile, setting the stage for an ideal seedbed in the spring. They also help distribute residue and break up clods.
