Adjusts row spacing – instead of shutting off rows
Väderstad WideLining hydraulically adjusts 4 of the row units on the planter frame. This creates 41.3-inch-wide wheel tracks adapted for the tires on a liquid manure applicator.
Fully automatic
When WideLining is activated, the machine will calculate the field and automatically adjust the row units to create lines based on the working width of the liquid manure applicator. The row unit adjustment will occur when the machine is lifted on the headlands.
Comparing WideLining to previous technology

Planter working width: 19.7 ft.
Number of row units: 8 row units
Row spacing: 29.5 in.

No system
On every 3rd pass that the 8-row planter completes in the field, the crops in 2 rows will be destroyed by the tire tracks of the tractor and liquid manure fertilizer applicator.
This would destroy 8.3% of the crops in the field, leading to a significant yield decrease.
Tram lining
On every 3rd pass that the 8-row planter makes in the field, 2 rows would be shut off.
This means that the planter would plant 8.3% less seeds on the field, leading to a significant total yield decrease.
Väderstad WideLining
On every 3rd pass that the 8-row planter makes in the field, 4 rows will be hydraulically adjusted to create 41.3-inch rows.
Since all row units are still planting at the full seeding rate, this means that yield will not be affected.
