Väderstad Tempo increases planting precision for oilseed rape and sugar beet

The new small seeds kit for the world-record high-speed planter Väderstad Tempo enhances precision when planting small seeded crops such as oilseed rape and sugar beet.

- The new small seeds kit for Väderstad Tempo further improves results when planting small seeded crops. This increases yield and widens the usage of the high-speed planter on the farm, says Mattias Hovnert, Sales & Marketing Director at Väderstad, and adds:

- Maize, sugar beet, soya beans, sunflower, oilseed rape, cotton, sorghum and many more. Väderstad Tempo is able to plant a full range of crops with excellent results.

The small seeds kit will be available for all Tempo planters, from the 4-row Tempo R 4 up to the 18-row Tempo L 18. Additionally, existing Tempo farmers will be able to equip the small seeds kit as a retrofit kit to their machine.

Important components secures success

Planting a small seeded crop at shallow planting depth requires the planter to be very gentle to the seed. The main components of the small seeds kit includes suspended stop wheels and the ability to adjust the angle of the closing wheels.

- The task of the stop wheel is to ensure an optimal seed-to-soil contact when the seed leaves the seed tube. By equipping the stop wheel with a suspension, this operation can be adjusted to be gentler to the seed. This is favorable for shallow planted small seeds, such as oilseed rape or sugar beet, says Mattias Hovnert, and continues:

- To provide a good closing of the seed trench at shallow planting depth, the angle of the closing wheels can be adjusted. The changing of the closing wheel angle is easily carried out with a lever on each row unit.

The Tempo small seeds kit will be in production from February 2018.
