Seed discs for planters
By easily changing the row spacing for different crops, Tempo offers high versatility on the farm. Changing the seed discs is carried out in a matter of seconds without the need for tools.
Seed system
The seed system on the Väderstad Tempo is designed for accuracy. It uses air pressure to guide each seed from the meter to the soil. This keeps placement steady, even at high speeds. The result is even spacing and strong crop emergence.

Closing wheels
Closing wheels play a vital role in ensuring successful seed placement and germination. Their main function is to close the seed trench and secure optimal seed-to-soil contact. In modern planters like the Väderstad Tempo, this process is enhanced by pressing the seed into the trench bottom, improving access to moisture and reducing the risk of poor emergence.

The angle of your closing wheels makes the difference
By adjusting the angle of the closing wheels, the soil structure in the furrow can be tailored to meet specific needs. A straight closing wheel angle is used where the soil has a good structure and breaks apart easily.
If this is not the case, the closing wheels can be angled more aggressively, opening forward. This setting will cause the trench sidewalls to collapse and distribute fine tilth on top. The resulting small ridge will dry and warm up faster than the surrounding field. It is important to ensure that the closing wheels keep turning at this angle, as this can be challenging in stony conditions.
There is also the option of placing the closing wheels at an angle opening backwards, known as the ploughing position, which will create an area lower than the surrounding field. This can be beneficial for increased water uptake during rain and slightly less sensitivity to frost.

- This can lead to excessive trench disruption if wheels are too aggressive.
- Proper wheel selection helps maintain trench integrity and seed stability.
Best practices for trench closure
- The seed furrow must never be left open—especially in moist or no-till conditions.
- Closing wheels should break down trench sidewalls without disturbing dry topsoil.
- A common setup is one heavier wheel paired with a rubber wheel for balanced closure.
