Väderstad introduces new distributor head to increase the seed drill control

Väderstad, one of the world’s leading companies in tillage, seeding and planting, upgrades the pneumatical seed drills Rapid A 400-800S, Rapid A 600-800C, Spirit 400C/S and Spirit 600-900C/S with a new distributor head for model year 2024. As an option, the new distributor head can be fitted with motors for all outlets, providing the driver with an increased control of the product flow.

The new distributor head for the pneumatic Rapid and Spirit seed drills, enables two new main features: Dynamic tramlining and the possibility to switch from 125mm to 250mm row spacing with a touch of a button.

- The dynamic tramlining function makes tramlining simpler and more reliable than ever before. The function is easy to setup with the iPad-based control system Väderstad E-Control. When seeding the field, the seed drill automatically shuts off specific rows when needed to match the tyre tracks of the sprayer, says Björn Jeansson, Director Seed drill Product Management, at Väderstad.

By entering the track width and tyre spacing of the sprayer, the iPad-based control system Väderstad E-Control calculates when specific rows needs to be shut-off to create the un-seeded tramlines. When in the field, the tramlining will be controlled automatically, shutting of the rows independent of where they are on the seed drill.

- The dynamic tramlining functionality makes life easier, since it allows for the full working width to be used even if the drill does not match the sprayer width. For contractors it means a quick switching between fields where different sprayer and fertiliser application widths are being used, says Björn Jeansson.

An important feature that additionally comes with the new distributor head, is the ability to easily change the row spacing of the machine from 125mm to 250mm, thereby saving time in a busy season.

- Changing from 125mm to 250mm row spacing is done with a touch of a button in E-Control from the cab. The system is coordinated with the SeedEye sensors, ensuring full functionality, says Björn Jeansson.

The new distributor head additionally enables half-machine shut-off for the 4 metre Rapid A 400S and Spirit 400C/S. This decreases the input costs and minimizes double seeded areas.

The new distributor head for Spirit 400C/S, Spirit 600-900C/S, Rapid A 400-800S and Rapid A 600-800C is available from December 2023.
