Väderstad, one of the world's leading companies in tillage, seeding, and planting, has launched a new product family of row crop cultivators: Extract.
In February of this year, Väderstad announced the acquisition of the full product range of row crop cultivators from the Danish company Thyregod, including all intellectual property rights to the row crop cultivator product line.
The new product family of row crop cultivators has been named Extract and painted in Väderstad's traditional red, yellow, and black colors. It will initially be sold in two models: the trailed Extract L 16-48 and the mounted Extract V 8-36. Depending on the model, both Extract L and Extract V will be available with row spacings from approximately 9-30 inches (225, 250, 450, 500, and 750mm).
– The Extract family of row crop cultivators are perfect matches to our current portfolio of Tempo planters, our new technologies for seeding with the upcoming Proceed concept and for future sustainable and efficient farming. It is also a new product segment for us at Väderstad, and one that we see a big potential for in the market, says Mattias Hovnert, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing at Väderstad.
With uncertainty surrounding regulations for certain pesticides, there is a demand in the market for a machine that can perform mechanical weed control between plant rows. Väderstad Extract has a sturdy main frame, along with a patented solution for lifting the row units, which both prevents damage to the plants while also allowing for inter-row cultivation for a longer period in terms of plant height. Extract L also has a unique frame solution, where it can hold two frames in one main frame, increasing efficiency and saving a pass for the farmer.
– When speaking to our Tempo farmers and looking into the future, we see a shift to more mechanical solutions for weed control. Väderstad can now offer farmers a complete solution. Extract is a perfect match to their Tempo planter, and it is also optimized to fit our Proceed concept, says Wolfram Hastolz, Director Tillage Product Management at Väderstad.
