Thanks to its array of front tools and drilling systems, Rapid is always the right choice, irrespective of cropping system. The unique depth control function and coulter pressure result in optimal seed placement even at high driving speeds. The machine has few moving parts and cushioning on all working parts, giving it an extremely long life.
Rapid for drilling in different tillage systems
Drilling directly in stubble, after ploughing or in a reduced tillage system are all possible. Thanks to Rapid’s powerful front tool and soil-cultivating seed discs, it can drill in any conditions. This saves many passes before drilling. The high coulter pressure gives good penetration into the soil and very good possibilities for direct drilling.
Rapid can drill everything from small-seeded crops such as grass leys to large-seeded crops such as beans.

New tyres with lower pressure and increased contact surface
Each wheel presses down the soil over two rows of seed and one of fertiliser. This reconsolidation ensures good contact between soil and seed, and thus good water supply to the germinating seedling.
The large wheel diameter of the press wheels, 740 mm, and their new deeper profile make it easier to work in moist conditions.
The new tubeless tyres allow the air pressure to be lowered to 1.5 bar. This low pressure and with the newly designed tyre pattern together increase the contact area on the soil by 50%. The quality of the rubber in the tyres has been improved and the lugs are now higher. Endurance tests have demonstrated a marked increase in life.
OffSet increases capacity
OffSet means that alternate wheels in the carrying press wheel unit are placed 190 mm backwards on a separate axle. This creates a gap between the alternate wheels where soil and crop trash can flow through and pass out behind the seed drill. This avoids soil ridging up in front of the row of wheels in wet conditions.
Interactive Depth Control
This system provides the driver with unique opportunities to fine-tune drilling depth on the go with immediate effect, a great advantage on variable soils. A separate position sensor indicates the position of the cylinder and displays it on the E-Control screen. After adjustment, the main cylinder is locked in the new position by double hydraulic valves. This makes Interactive Depth Control a very reliable system with no risk of accidental changes in drilling depth.
The pneumatic metering system Fenix can handle all seed rates from 1.5 kg/ha up to 500 kg/ha without any parts having to be changed. Thanks to the hydraulic drive, high rates can be drilled without lowering the driving speed. Rapid A 600 and 800 have two seed meters, so half-machine shut-off comes as standard.
The hydraulic fan always provides the right amount of air. The rev count of the fan is monitored via E-Control in the tractor cab. On Rapid A Combi there are two fans, one for seed and one for fertiliser. The rev count is easy to adjust using the tractor hydraulics.
Rapid A has pneumatic metering and is available in working widths from 4 to 8 metres. The drilling capacity is very high, while the soil cultivating action is exceptional. Despite its impressive dimensions, the machine is easy to operate. Rapid A is also available as a combi model in 6 and 8 m width.
Combi for reliable results
Rapid A is available with and without fertiliser. Interest in fertiliser placement is increasing globally, in pace with the higher costs of inputs and increasing environmental awareness. Väderstad can offer many years of experience within this area.
Nutrient placement during drilling gives a fast and reliable fertilisation effect. Since the fertiliser is placed in moist soil, there is less dependence on rain, while placement also gives high yield and better nutrient use efficiency.
Adjustable dividing wall
Rapid 600C and 800C have a hopper with an adjustable dividing wall that separates seed and fertiliser. The hopper can be set in three positions: 60/40, 50/50 or seed only. A hydraulically powered auger meters out the fertiliser directly into the air stream in the distributor head. If the whole machine is used for seed, the auger is reversed so that it transports seed to the front hopper where it is metered out by the Fenix metering system. A lever allows easy conversion.

Rapid A 600J and 800J are versions of the combi machine, but without the fertiliser function.
With Väderstad E-Services, Rapid is set for the future
With the introduction of Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) and iPad Air to the Väderstad programme, the machines can be controlled with the help of wireless communication. Half-machine shut-off saves money
Half-machine shut-off on Rapid A 600-800 is controlled from the cab.
On irregular fields there are great opportunities for savings. Farmers who regularly use half-machine shut-off appreciate the fact that they can save up to 5% seed and fertiliser.
Save passes with BioDrill
With BioDrill on Rapid, a ley, catch crop or other small-seeded crop can be precision-drilled at the same time as the main crop. This saves passes, time and money.
The seeds are metered out by Väderstad’s own proven Fenix system.
The nozzles for the seed are positioned behind the coulter, but in front of the press wheels, and spread the seed evenly. The seed is covered by the wheels and the following harrow.
