Direct incorporation of slurry with Carrier X

As soon as it was possible to get out on the fields at Mecklenburg this spring, the Müritzer meat production company’s Terra Gator started spreading slurry. This year a Väderstad Carrier X 525 was used for the first time to incorporate the slurry into the soil immediately after spreading.

Many farmers are being forced to take action since according to current regulations, slurry has to be tilled into the soil within four hours of spreading. By using Terra Gator with Carrier X and a ribbed roller, the Müritzer meat production company can combine slurry spreading and seedbed preparation in a single pass. Using this combination of implements, the company’s pig slurry will be spread on around 700 ha in the spring and around 1500 ha in the autumn.

Carrier X is an excellent choice, since it is narrow, only 2.4 m in transport width, and since the centre of gravity is close to Terra Gator owing to the short design of Carrier. The Terra Gator-Carrier combination is very manoeuvrable with a good turning circle. The maintenance free and tightly sealed disc bearings guarantee long life for Carrier X even in the tough conditions found during slurry spreading.

 Carrier X

Thanks to System Disc being laid out in an X-shape, this Carrier model always runs in the centre behind the tractor, which minimises the draught requirement. This is ideal when working with a GPS steering system. It is easy to adjust Carrier X. The top link sets the parallelism of the implement and the maximum working depth is limited using pins. The working depth can then be changed on the go from the tractor cab.

The Müritzer meat production company was easily able to modify Carrier X slurry spreading. The distributor for slurry has been fitted on Carrier’s massive frame and hoses have been fitted in front of System Disc to deliver the slurry close to the soil surface in front of the discs. Several thousand cubic metres of slurry will be spread with this machine in coming weeks.
